CHAPTER SEVEN

Sofia

The smoldering gleam in Sev’s eye is almost enough to set my panties aflame. He wants me and he isn’t shy about letting me know it.

I guess from the moment he turned up at my door, I knew he wasn’t just planning to take me for dinner and a friendly chat. His remark about sharing me with his friends confirmed that.

I am attracted to Sev, but I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Technically, I won’t be cheating on Andrei if something happens with Sev tonight, but I still think it’s icky to sleep with the close friend of a man I’ve already fucked.

I don’t know if I’m the sort of woman who’d cope with being in a relationship with multiple partners. It seems like it would be tricky to navigate.

The concerns I have are banished from my mind as a thin, older man in black trousers and a white shirt comes into the room, carrying a couple of plates.

Sev leans back in his chair. Now he’s not so close, I can breathe again. Just sharing the same air with this man is intense.

While the server places our plates down in front of us and rattles off a description of the dish — hand dived scallops with a citrus foam — I discreetly scan the room once more.

I can’t believe there’s a space like this on a boat. Elegant and tastefully decorated, it wouldn’t look out of place in the swankiest of stately homes. Then again, I guess a yacht like this is a floating palace.

When I was with Connor, I got a taste for some of the finer things in life, but how these guys live is something else. I’ll have to work hard not to be swayed by the lure of a decadent lifestyle.

After all, if being with Connor taught me anything, it’s that having money doesn’t necessarily make a man a suitable life partner.

“Would you like me to pour the wine, sir?” the server asks in a dense Russian accent. Gray-haired and thin, he has a pale complexion and a slightly stern expression.

“Yes, thank you, Ilya.”

When he’s poured two glasses, Ilya bows respectfully and retreats from the room. Sev picks up his glass and indicates I should do the same. I guess he’s going to make a toast.

“To the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.”

It takes every ounce of self-control I possess not to roll my eyes at that. I’m sure he’s surrounded by gorgeous women all the time.

Not wanting to appear churlish, I acknowledge his toast with a polite smile and take a sip of the wine. It’s cool, crisp and refreshing, not unlike the one Andrei and I had at the restaurant.

“So.” I set my glass down. “Luka is half-Greek and half-Russian, Andrei is obviously Russian, and you have a Russian name but sound British.”

“I am the product of a British boarding school education. My father insisted I take elocution lessons to fit in.”

“You went to school in the U.K.?”

“We all did, Luka, Andrei and I.
